Scope:

TREE/Pro develops a family tree drawing (similar to an organization chart) showing the full or limited hierarchy of a product structure, while working within Pro/ENGINEER's drawing environment. In just a few seconds a tree drawing is generated automatically from the Pro/ENGINEER assembly. If changes are made to the assembly, TREE/Pro updates the family tree drawing automatically. It also allows display of all the parameters created in parts or any subset. This means you can develop specific tree drawings for any discipline needed. For example, purchasing can generate a preferred vendor list and manufacturing can generate a quantitative work cell data sheet. The output variations are unlimited. The family tree block location can be manipulated with drag and drop functions to allow quick redefinition of the display. TREE/Pro also allows engineering managers to structure and define the Pro/ENGINEER product database before users actually develop the parts. By inputting part data into a simple indented ascii text file, TREE/Pro can then create the appropriate Pro/ENGINEER databases (parts and assemblies) with the correct names and parameters. This reduces the problem of incorrect part names, lost files, and users working in the wrong directory. Users simply retrieve the part assigned to them and start development. MRP output can also be used to generate the text file so modified versions of product configurations can be developed quickly. TREE/Pro has a unique interface feature allowing retrieval of objects that reside in the product structure. If a user wishes to view one of the objects found in the family tree he or she simply selects that block on the tree and TREE/Pro will retrieve the Pro/ENGINEER part or assembly that block represents. This eliminates accidentally viewing databases not in the final configuration and making invalid engineering decisions.
